NUS Women's Campaign Awards 2013
NUS Women’s Campaign Conference hosted their first ever awards ceremony this year, recognising the amazing work done on campuses across the UK.
Inspirational woman student of the year: Susana Antubam, Royal Holloway Students’ Union
Susana founded the London Student Feminist Network and played a major role in organising the Student Feminist Conference, all while being a full-time student.
Women’s group or feminist society of the year: Edinburgh University Students’ Association Feminist Society
This society boasts a great membership that has worked within their community against anti-choice groups. They’ve done some great work discussing the effects of lad culture on their campus, and they produce a magazine that has proven very popular among students.
Campaign of the year: MisRepresentation, Royal Holloway Students’ Union
This campaign did some great work on women’s representation in the media. It was particularly successful because it was a team effort between the feminist society and other societies within their union.
Through pooling their resources they gained recognition and interest across their institution and engaged a range of audiences in their activities.
