Healthwatch is the national, statutory consumer champion for health and social care. Healthwatch works locally and nationally to compile information about shortfalls in health and social care and to provide reports, advice and support to local health structures.
Feeding into Healthwatch is an indispensabile way for students' unions to voice their concern about health and social care locally. Which is why four charities NAVCA, CSV, Regional Voices and National Voices have joint together to create Healthwatch -Communities Involved. Healthwatch - Communities Involved works to raise awareness amongst local people, community groups and volunteers about how they can have a greater role in their local health and social services. It wants to make it easier for people from all backgrounds and interests to hold their services to account. It does so by providing resources, events and activities.
You can get involved by disseminating the resources below to students on your campus and by finding out where your local Healthwatch is at http://www.healthwatch.co.uk/find-your-local-organisation.
A number of resources such as posters and leaflets are available here, Healthwatch - Communities Involved events are available here.
