Motions are the stuff policy is made of. Without them, the liberation campaigns will not have it on the books what their stances on issues are, or what they intend to do.
Motions may be submitted from today. The deadline for motions is Thursday 17 April. All liberation conferences will accept the same form for submitted motions. Download the motion pro forma.
Women's, Black Students, Students with Disabilities, and Welsh Language need to use the appropriate democratic mechanisms within their students' unions to submit a motion. For example, the women's society at Union X could hold a meeting to agree submission, then submit the motion to NUS Wales Women's Conference. We recommend that when such caucus meetings are held, students' unions publicise them to ensure maximum participation from their membership in these groups.
NUS Wales LGBT Conference has slightly different rules within its constitution. Any self-defining lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans student at member union can submit a motion to this conference. Motions will be automatically assigned as a submission by that students' union rather than the individual.
All details on how to write and submit a motion are included within the motion pro forma.
