This course has been designed to give students’ union staff with the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver effective learning and development programmes. As well as for individuals who are interested in a re-fresher course.

Course learning objectives:
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
Identify different learning styles
Define learning and training
Discuss different types of learning theory
Apply learning theory to the training environment
Experience active learning
Analyse a variety of training methods
Identify good and bad learning objectives
Design a training session plan
Name a range of communication 'blocks'
Identify different ways trainers can facilitate learners to learn effectively
Identify and name solutions for challenges trainers may face
Consider ways to manage challenging behaviours in the training environment
List a variety of training evaluation methods
Deliver a short training session
Receive feedback on training session from peers and trainer
Develop a support network of students' union trainers
NUS Training Team
All trainers who deliver this course hold advanced trainer qualifications with many years of experience of training and students’ unions between them. Moreover, the trainers on this course will coach, share best practice and their experience with the delegates.
