Getting to know your Membership: a Liberation course for all officers

This course is aimed at officers of both Further and Higher Education affiliated unions. The event consists of plenary, workshops and interactive planning sessions.

Delegates will also have an opportunity to ask any questions of the NUS liberation campaign officers.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course delegates will:
  • Participate in a guided visualisation and explore the emotions that may occur to someone experiencing discrimination
  • Discuss the potential implications of discrimination on the student experience
  • Identify similarities and differences based on individual and social diversity that apply within students’ unions
  • State their points of view or contradict others in a respectful manner on the course
  • Recognise different points of view on controversial topics that support them in developing their own opinions and arguments on the issues affecting students
  • Identify key areas within your remit where you could support and develop liberation campaigns and activities with their unions
