Officer Development

NUS launches the Officer Development Programme 2014

NUS is delighted to launch the Officer Development Programme (ODP) 2014-15 for elected officers. Since last year’s programme we have listened to membership feedback and believe we have developed a programme that is current, interactive and challenging for delegates.
ODP provides an excellent opportunity for officers to develop their skills, generate new ideas and to gain support from others within the movement; and in the coming months we will be announcing:
  • Venues
  • Delegate fees
  • Expert speakers who will be delivering plenaries  and workshops

This year, included in the course fee, our courses (with exception to FE Leaders) will  be able to access pre-learning and some post-learning via our new online learning platform U-Learn.

Each delegate will access to:

  •  An online dedicated learning space to create a learn profile and access materials
  •  A pre-course learning needs analysis
  •  Access to discussion boards to collaborate with other officers and trainers
  •  Residential course materials

Joining instructions to invite officers to self register will be emailed to delegates 2 weeks before the course (or first course if they are attending more than one course)

This Conference is for new and returning officers from Scottish students’ associations. This event will be an opportunity to learn about the Scottish context and to build your support network with other officers, as well as the officers and staff of NUS Scotland.

Y Talwrn, 8 August, Newtown, Mid Wales (NUS Wales only)

This Conference is for new and returning officers from Welsh higher education students’ unions. This event will be an opportunity to learn about the Welsh context and to build your support network with other officers, as well as the officers and staff of NUS Wales.

SUT14, 6 – 11 July, venue in Ireland (NUS-USI only)

This course is a new joint initiative through the trilateral agreement between NUS, USI and NUS-USI. It is an unique opportunity for officers from across Ireland to come together to develop their leadership skills, gain exposure to new ideas, research and expertise, as well as creating a support network with other officers. It will be followed by the SUT+ course on 7 – 9 August 2014 in Northern Ireland, which will further develop skills and knowledge through a simulated exercise.

Students' Unions 2014 Conference

2 - 3 July 2014

Bolton Whites Hotel, adjoining Bolton Football Stadium

This flagship event will bring together staff and officers from across the student movement to consider the key strategic challenges and to prepare for the year ahead. It will culminate in the celebration of achievement across the student movement with the annual NUS Awards ceremony and gala dinner.

We will no longer have to place a cap on the number of delegates each union can bring and you will be able to book your own accommodation so you can choose the standard of accommodation within a price bracket that suits you.
